What is CBD?

CBD is a chemical found in marijuana. CBD doesn't contain tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the psychoactive ingredient found in marijuana that produces a high.

What is the difference between CBD and Hemp?

Hemp seed oil and CBD oil are very different products.  CBD oil uses the stalks, leaves, and flowers of the hemp plant in its production. These contain a higher concentration of CBD, which is a compound with numerous potential health benefits.  Hemp seed oil comes from the seeds of the Cannabis sativa plant. The seeds do not contain CBD, but they still have a rich profile of nutrients, fatty acids, and useful bioactive compounds that can also have health benefits.

Is CBD made from Marijuana or Hemp?

CBD can be extracted from both marijuana and hemp. However, as marijuana is illegal in most places, much of the CBD you’ll find on the market is made from hemp.

Will CBD get you high?

What are the benefits of CBD?

CBD is used to treat a number of different conditions in pets including anxiety, depression, pain, inflammation, seizures, epilepsy, cancer, digestive issues, arthritis, diabetes and skin irritations. It is also said to have beneficial effects on concentration, energy levels and sleep.

How does CBD work?

CBD restores homeostasis (the body’s natural balance). It works in the endocannabinoid system by activating two of its core receptors (CB1 & CB2), which regulate mood, temperature, cognitive function and muscle repair.

How long does it take for CBD to work?

CBD consumption is not an immediate effect.  For anxiety problems, CBD oil typically can start to calm your dog within 30-60 minutes.  More chronic issues such as joint pain and mobility, it may take 2 – 4 weeks for optimal results.  CBD given directly to your dog’s mouth or gums (sublingual absorption) could take 20-60 minutes.  CBD given in your dog’s food or treats (absorbed in stomach) could take 45 – 90 minutes. 

How long do the effects os CBD last?

CBD can provide relief for six to eight hours. If you notice that the effects of the CBD are wearing off faster than usual you should increase the dosage to maintain the same results.

Does CBD make your pet tired or sleepy?

The calming effect of CBD can also cause slight drowsiness, especially when using higher doses.

Does CBD help with excessive licking?

CBD has natural anti-inflammatory properties, reduces allergic reactions, as well as calming obsessive behaviors like paw licking.
